Appimmages seam a lot like reverting to the old way of downloading packages like the installers you see in Windows and macos are appimages somehow better or different?
For me at least I never considered a synology nas it seemed like the apple of home servers. Especially when I enjoy building machines anyway there was no point. Although I can definitely see the appeal for some people.
I wonder if there are more open solutions that don’t require building a machine from scratch.
Thanks for posting that was really informative i was always intending on learning more about package managers at some point. What I wonder is when you want a package and it’s available as both a dnf package and a flatpack which one should you chose?
I actually used bazzite as my first mainstream linux distro and I hated it because every second command I pasted in didn’t work and I didn’t understand why. I eventually figured out it was due to the immutable nature of bazzite and began telling everyone to never use bazzite because it doesn’t work very well.
Now I actually understand what the actual upsides are and why it’s different I will change to mainstream distros to actually get a hold of what it’s usually like before considering changing back over.
