Turn a blind eye to US companies like ChatGPT and ban DeepSeek, okay…? At least you can download the entire DeepSeek model.
Not a completely blind eye I would say. I think Germany also threatened ChatGPT to be blocked when it was new. But they do probably have a bias towards China nevertheless.
It „makes sense“ in that US troops are still stationed in Europe to (hopefully) help defend western Democracy. Meanwhile China is actively helping Russia attacking it. But judging by where things are headed with Trump, ChatGPT, Gemini, etc. could be next on the ban list.
Different topic but isn’t it weird that they have to talk to Apple and Google for an App to be blocked… Wouldn’t the first step be to prohibit DeepSeek business in Germany directly. Maybe they did though and it probably is easier this way regardless.
